Communication

DEFINITION: Communication plays a vital role in our daily lives. Communication makes it possible for us to deliver our ideas and listen to the thoughts of other people. Communication is done between two or more people as they exchange their views and thoughts verbally or by writing to each other. Effective communication involves precise encoding and decoding of the message which is essential for the success of any organization.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: My strength in communication is that I am a very good speaker. I know how to deliver my ideas and thoughts by choosing the best possible words. My words and my body language attract others to hear me with their full attention. On the other hand, my weakness in communication is that sometimes I fail to listen to others carefully and misinterpret their message. Sometimes, I also start giving my opinions in the middle of a conversation which results in embarrassment.

Informative Speech:

Introduction: One of my classes was oral communication, and one of its tasks was to have become a better communicator to others. Therefore, I was required to do an informative speech on any topic of my choosing. I decided to give a presentation about Drugs and its danger in society.

Reflection: After spending time on research for my topic, I was shocked with the information that I have found. I felt that it is my obligation to present in a clear way so my audience would truly understand the nature of its danger to the Arab community. In addition, I learned how to move from one point to another such as using transitional phrases.

Morocco:

Introduction: Written communication is one of most classes that I have enjoyed in PMU, as it is mainly free speech with different simple requirements with each assignment, such as writing a description essay, and I decided to write about Morocco.

Reflection: The description assignment helped me build a stronger vocabulary, especially in words that are related to describing, such as size, shape, and color. I learned many things about Morocco’s culture and their great taste in cuisine.
